What is a Code Signing Certificate?

A Code Signing Certificate is a digital certificate that developers use to digitally sign their software applications, scripts, or code files. Doing this helps developers establish trust with customers, as they can verify the software's origin and confirm that it hasn't been compromised or tampered with.

Downloads of software that was not signed with a Code Signing Certificate may display a warning message, discouraging users from continuing the download.
