What is an SPF Record?

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) records are a type of email authentication protocol that you can add to the DNS. This particular record defines which servers and domains have your consent to send emails on your behalf. In tandem with this, receiving email servers automatically verify whether emails that appear to be from your domain actually originate from a legitimate place. If this is not the case, your emails will go straight into receivers’ spam boxes. Nowadays, many major email providers require a valid SPF record for emails to be delivered to your recipient's inboxes. SPF is also an important component of DMARC.

Example:

Many email providers will reject emails that do not have a valid DMARC record. As SPF is part of DMARC, it is important to set up a valid SPF record for your domain. Not doing so may result in your emails getting stuck in spam boxes or no longer being delivered at all.
