What is an EV SSL Certificate?

Extended Validation (EV) certificates are a particular subset of SSL certificates. EV certificates are designed for use by large enterprise companies. Out of all types of SSL certificates, EV certificates have the most rigorous validation process and therefore also offer the high level of security that large companies need. 

The validation process of EV certificates involves various steps and includes the verification of domain ownership, company validation, validation by phone, and signing a written agreement. The validation process usually takes 3-6 business days.
