Have you ever been curious to meet the people behind the domains? In this series of blog posts, we are introducing you to various members of our global, fully remote team.
This week, we are introducing you to Artyom (30), one of our Senior DevOps Engineers.
Tell us something about yourself!
As you might know, my name is Artyom, and I’m working as a Senior DevOps Engineer at Openprovider. I’m originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan and I also lived in Saint Petersburg for several years. Currently, I’m living in Spain. Now that I’m living here, I like to travel a lot. Even if I wouldn’t like to travel, my wife likes it, so basically I have to like it too (and no, she is not standing behind my back right now!). In my free time, I like to learn something new or do some fun sports activities, such as freediving, sailing, or running.
What does an average day in your role look like?
I have a cat, and usually, she demands that I feed her pretty early in the morning. So I have a couple of hours for myself before my work starts. Once work starts, I check my emails and Slack channels and take a look at our monitoring system before I grab myself a big pot of green tea (I’m a big fan of tea!). Afterward, I start working on our daily tasks, as well as on the longer projects that we are working on with the infrastructure team.
Which achievement (of yourself, your team, or the company) are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the fact that our team convinced the management to start a huge re-architecting process inside the company. It’s not an easy task, but I believe that in the end, we can deliver something that will help the company to evolve.
What are your favorite things about working remotely? And is there something you like less about it?
For me, working remotely is a great opportunity to spend more time with my family. I’m not ready to go back to the office and only see them in the mornings and evenings again. Working remotely is also a way for me to travel more. As there is no physical office anymore, you can easily spend a working week in a completely different place, and I think that’s awesome!
What do you like the most about working at Openprovider?
The culture and people. Openprovider gives you a great opportunity to meet and work with people all over the world! Many companies say that they are proud of themselves for creating a working environment like that, but for me, Openprovider is the first company that actually managed to achieve this. Openprovider also supports the proactivity of employees in all possible ways. They give you freedom, but they also expect responsibility.
