Meet Team Openprovider: Pavel

This week, we are introducing you to Pavel (27), one of our Senior Backend Software Engineers.

Tell us something about yourself!

My name is Pavel Lanchev, and I work as a Senior Backend Software Engineer at Openprovider. I live in Kazakhstan, in a modest industrial city called Rudny. Beyond my passion for programming, I have a keen interest in video games, as well as a decade-long background as an actor in our city’s theater. This experience greatly honed my communication and presentation skills, which are essential in a remote environment.

What does an average day in your role look like?

My typical morning is usually packed with smaller tasks, including follow-ups from the previous day and preparations for upcoming meetings. Afterward, I report our daily progress to our platform team and delve more into coding. Occasionally, we engage in further discussions about potential ideas or features that our development team is interested in implementing. I also participate in interviewing prospective backend developers.

Which achievement (of yourself, your team, or the company) are you most proud of?

As a team, we have significantly improved our log system recently and introduced a range of enhancements in product and payment services. At Openprovider, we are consistently striving to upgrade the entire system, benefiting not just our customers but also our developers.

What are your favorite things about working remotely? And is there something you like less about it?

I genuinely enjoy immersing myself in work without external distractions. It helps in concentration and, importantly, in our fast-paced world, it fosters relaxation. However, face-to-face interactions are sometimes necessary to convey a viewpoint or a new idea more effectively to the team. Oh, and I can’t forget about the whiteboard! I sincerely miss it from my office days.

What do I like the most about working at Openprovider? 

We have team members distributed worldwide, but they all share a common trait—the ability to communicate, listen, and assist each other. This atmosphere provides the opportunity to be heard and to see your ideas come to life, which is what I appreciate the most.
