What is Whois privacy?

Whois privacy, also known as domain privacy or Whois masking, is a service that allows domain owners to keep their personal contact information hidden from public view in the Whois database. This information, such as name, address, phone number, and email address, is required to be submitted to the domain registrar when a domain is registered and is then made publicly available in the Whois database. The Whois database, originally created for transparency in domain registration, has become a source of concern for many domain owners due to the risk of receiving spam emails, unsolicited phone calls, and potential threats or harassment. Whois privacy services address these concerns by replacing the domain owner's personal contact information with that of a privacy service provider, allowing for privacy while still complying with registration requirements.
