From the beginning of this year Plesk started to report to their partners about the licenses installed on more than one physical or virtual server at once. As long as such licenses are violating Plesk End User License Agreement (EULA) they are automatically marked as “fraudulent”. Openprovider, being a Plesk Platinum partner, is obliged to follow Plesk recommendations and now we are changing our internal processes and license use policy among our customers.
Fraudulent licenses termination
Licenses that are used on more than 1 server (more than 1 IP address is detected with the same license applied) will be automatically terminated. This is done to prevent multiple billing of the license since Plesk is now charging for every IP address detected with the license.
If you receive such notification you should replace the licenses mentioned on every Plesk instance which uses the fraudulent license to minimize the impact on your end customer websites.
No license download option
It is not possible anymore to download the license key as XML file from Openprovider control panel or via API. This is done to enforce using activation code for license installation on the server. When license is activated via activation code it automatically registers the license with Plesk Key Administrator and prevents usage of the license on more than 1 server. It will not be possible anymore to activate Plesk instance without having a public IP on the server instance.
License activation code can be retrieved from Openprovider Control Panel license details page or via API.
