Nameserver migration – possible action required

We are improving our nameserver infrastructure, which entails migration of the nameservers itself to new IP addresses. We will process the required changes over the next few weeks. You won’t notice anything in the resolving of your domain names or the availability of our nameservers.

Action required?

No action is required from your side, unless you are using Openprovider’s nameservers as slave nameservers through our old IP address 93.180.69.4.
If so, ensure that your master’s nameserver accepts zone file transfers from the new IP address 185.27.175.218. The old IP address (93.180.69.4) will be phased out on the 1st of September 2018.

New IP addresses for our nameserver cluster

Over the next weeks, you will see the following new IP addresses for our nameservers. These changes will require no action from your side.

Improvements of “shadow zones”

Another improvement that already has been released, is that of the so-called “shadow zones”. This is a special case of DNS-zone: there is already an active zone for a domain, but another reseller plans to transfer this domain to his own reseller account. He wants to create the zone as well. As it’s technically impossible to have two zones active at the same time (they would collide), the second zone is created as a shadow zone: inactive, but pre-configured. In the past, only one shadow zone was allowed. Now unlimited shadow zones can exist. The transition process between production and shadow has been optimised.
